“Barbie Girl” streams are up 185% globally and TikTok creates are up 238% in 2023 compared to the previous year.
At the peak of Barbie mania, I lead a team of marketing directors, media planners and influencer managers to turn Y2K group Aqua’s Barbie Girl the song of the summer, 27 years after its first release. The song re-entered the Hot 100, streams increased 10X and social creates 5x to over 100k TikTok creates a day. As a nice bonus, they also earned over 1 Million followers on TikTok just a year after launching to account.
